The Range Control Officer is responsible for the safety of all air and ground range operations. They are the
single point of contact for range access.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities. This position has the responsibility and authority to carry out
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensures safe operating conditions at all times
Controls ground and air entry to range complexRecords events, discrepancies and corrective action in the RCO Log Book and review the Log Book prior to
assuming RCO duties.
Completes the RCO Report One
Assist in range maintenance as required
Assigns priorities and establishes schedules based upon mission requirements; ensuring that all tasks are
accomplished without interference or mission impact.
Monitors documentation to ensure it is accomplished for accurate and timely submission to satisfy contract
Coordinates with appropriate personnel/agency to ensure pre-mission requirements are established/satisfied
or if any mission requirement cannot be satisfied.
Interprets and applies Company/Program policies and procedures, including EEO, Affirmative Action,
Security and Safety; enforcing safety standards, and prohibiting the performance of work under unsafe
Must be able to perform certain physical tasks which may include, but are not limited to, moderate lifting
and moderate climbing.
Performs related duties as required.
Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.At a minimum, have 4 years rated aircrew, Air Traffic Control (ATC), Air Battle Manager (ABM), Joint
Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC), Enlisted Terminal Attack Controller (ETAC), Weapons Director (WD),
or previous RCO experience .
Comprehensive understanding of range safety.
Must possess a thorough understand of USAF tactical radio terminology.
Familiar with Bird Aircraft Strike Hazard equipment and reporting.
Familiar with Range inspections and setup.
