1. Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor’s
degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited
professional nursing educational program is required. This
education must have been accredited by the Commission on
Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse
Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for
Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the
U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was

from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is
required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: In addition, to the Basic Requirements,
you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below:
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and eligibility under
the Superior Academic Achievement provision
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and at least one full
year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-5
grade level). Experience at this level is performed under
general supervision and work is reviewed periodically by another
RN; assess and care for the nursing needs of OB patients and
other types of patients as assigned; develop plans of care to
meet the needs of assigned patients; recognize adverse signs and
symptoms and react swiftly in emergency situations; basic
knowledge of triaging patients. OR
- A diploma or associate degree in professional nursing and two
full years of professional nursing experience. Examples of
experience include: assess and care for the nursing needs of OB
patients and other types of patients as assigned; develop plans
of care to meet the needs of assigned patients; recognize
adverse signs and symptoms and reacting swiftly in emergency
situations; basic knowledge of triaging patients; plan with
minimal assistance in scheduling and providing comprehensive
nursing care in the OB Department.
