This is a Direct Hire Open Continuous Announcement (OCA) for a
Physician (Emergency Medicine) for the Emergency Department at the
Whiteriver Service Unit (WRSU) in Whiteriver, Arizona.

- Responsible for the practice of medicine or direct service to
patients that involve the performance of diagnostic,
preventative, or therapeutic services in hospitals and clinics.
- Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medication,
vaccination, and other specialized medical care to treat,
prevent illness, disease, or injury.
- Order, perform, and interpret tests and analyze records,
reports, and examination information to diagnose patient’s
conditions.
- Collect, record, and maintain patient information such as
medical history, reports, and examination results. Experience in
Electronic Health Record (EHR) is preferred.
- Monitor progress of patient condition and re-evaluate treatment,
as necessary.
- Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed
treatments with patients.
- Refer patients to medical specialists or other practitioners
when necessary.
- Coordinate work with nurses, pharmacists, social workers, and
other allied health professionals in the provision of a variety
of health services.

Selectee will be subject to a background investigation.
Must provide Professional Medical License (see required
documents).

Security Clearance: If you are selected for this vacancy, you must
undergo a pre-employment fingerprint check and background
investigation. Fingerprint results and background investigation
documentation must be cleared prior to hire. You will receive
instructions on how to obtain and submit fingerprints and background
investigation documentation. After you begin your employment, your
continued employment is contingent upon the outcome of a complete
background investigation as determined by the sensitivity level of
your position. The investigation must find that you are suitable for
Federal employment in your position. If you are found not suitable,

persons hired for these positions have not been found guilty of or
pleaded nolo contendere or guilty to certain crimes.

Measles and Rubella immunization required for selectees born
after 1957. Seasonal Influenza immunization is required for civilian
health care facility staff working in Indian Health Service health
care facilities.

The selected individual is required to obtain and maintain medical
staff clinical privileges, including any licensure requirements. If
privileges are not obtained or maintained during employment, the
employee will be subject to adverse actions, up to and including
removal from Federal service.

Alternative Work Schedule: May be required to work rotating shifts,
nights, weekends, and holidays to provide continuity of patient
care.

  1. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient
experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific
position for which you are applying.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer
work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps,
AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional,
philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, social). You will
receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer
and part-time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and
responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours
per week.

For positions requiring positive education requirements or if you
are using education to meet all or part of the qualification
requirements, you MUST submit a copy of your transcripts or an
itemized list of college courses which includes equivalent
information from the transcript (course title, semester/quarter
hours, and grade/degree earned) in your resume.

BASIC REQUIREMENT:
Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or
equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree
must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the
American Medical Association; Association of American Medical
Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on
Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic
Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S.
Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

Degree from Foreign Medical School: A Doctor of Medicine or
equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide
education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in
the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in
the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the
Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (external
link), a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed
premedical education in the United States and graduate education in
a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical
Licensing Examination.

Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must
possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or
registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia,
the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United
States.

Graduate Training
Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of
Osteopathic Medicine degree, a candidate must have had at least 1
year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical
setting, i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency
program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such
training. For purposes of this standard, graduate training programs
include only those internship, residency, and fellowship
