This position is located at the Kayenta Service Unit, Inscription
House Health Center, Clinical Services Branch, Shonto, AZ. The
incumbent serves as a Physician and Supervisory Physician. As a
medical officer, incumbent performs family oriented and
comprehensive health care within the Kayenta Service Unit. Incumbent
reports to the Clinical Director, Kayenta, AZ.

- Within the specialty area, the incumbent is responsible for the
diagnostic, preventive, therapeutic and rehabilitation services
for patients of all ages in the capacity of an expert.
- Interviews and examines patients, reviews past medical history,
and requests and/or performs diagnostic tests and examinations
deemed necessary to obtain all possible information related to
- Incumbent performs emergency care as required. Incumbent
provides definitive management in all medical categories for
cases that do not require referral. Incumbent gives total
patient care including prevention, health maintenance, early
diagnosis, treatment and follow-up services to patients under
- Conducts outpatient clinics, making observations appropriate to
the outpatient’s underlying disease and treatment plan,
including current symptoms.
- Works closely with allied health professionals to utilize and
coordinate their services in managing patient medical,
psychological and social problems.
- Responsible for overseeing the ongoing smooth operation of all
clinical activities in outpatient services, laboratory,
pharmacy, and radiology departments. Supervises the clinical
staff. Promotes adequate clinical staffing of Inscription House
Health Center (including medical staff, dentistry, optometry,
laboratory, pharmacy and radiology). Responsible for monitoring
the quality of patient care.
- Incumbent organizes ongoing efforts to improve health care
through performance improvement projects and compliance with The
Joint Commission (TJC) standards of care.
- Provides recommendations to the Clinical Director relative to
TJC and Centers for Medicaid and Medicare (CMS) inspection and
procedures, infection control, risk management and quality of

clinical services departments and plans to satisfy varying
requirements and priorities for services and other service unit
