  1. Summary

This position is located with the Division of Clinical Services,
Branch of Mental Health Service at the Northern Navajo Medical
Center in Shiprock, NM. The primary purpose of the position is to
serve as a full time clinical psychologist providing mental health
services to children, adolescents, and families, and to a limited
number of adults as time permits or is required. Providing
comprehensive and skilled psychological evaluations and treatment
services.

  1. Responsibilities

- Administers, scores, interprets psychological tests of children
and adolescents and, as time permits, adults. Conducts tests
which include but are not limited to intelligence, projective,
and diagnostic instruments, limited to psychoeducational
testing, and personality inventories.
- Provides assessment, diagnosis and psychotherapy utilizing a
broad range of therapeutic techniques as indicated by the
specific needs of juvenile individuals and groups, and their
families.
- Formulating patient treatment plans and treatment
recommendations through contributions of psychological and
personality assessments and diagnostic evaluations, and
knowledge of treatment modalities.
- Provides through and concise written documentation of
evaluations, treatment and case management services,
psychological test summaries, treatment plans, referrals, and
correspondence.
- Provides consultation to a wide variety of IHS staff including
physicians and other health professionals, paraprofessionals,
and mental health clinicians in providing and interpreting
psychological evaluations and testing.
- Provides, participates in and /or initiates educational and
preventive efforts in the community. Actively involved in
developing preventive and health promotion programs in schools
and human services agencies.

requiring contact or control over Indian children. Upon tentative
selection, selectee will be requested to complete, sign, and submit
the Addendum to OF-306, Child Care & Indian Child Care Worker
Position form. Due to this requirement, the agency must ensure that
persons hired for these positions have not been found guilty of or
pleaded nolo contendere or guilty to certain crimes.

Measles and Rubella immunization required for selectees born
after 1957. Seasonal Influenza immunization is required for civilian
health care facility staff working in Indian Health Service health
care facilities.

The selected individual is required to obtain and maintain medical
staff clinical privileges, including any licensure requirements. If
privileges are not obtained or maintained during employment, the
employee will be subject to adverse actions, up to and including
removal from Federal service.

  1. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient
experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific
position for which you are applying.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer
work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps,
AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional;
philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will
receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer
and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and
responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours
per week.

For positions requiring positive education requirements, or if you
are using education to meet all or part of the qualification
requirements, you MUST submit a copy of your transcripts or an
itemized list of college courses which includes equivalent
information from the transcript (course title, semester/quarter
hours, and grade/degree earned) in your resume.

BASIC REQUIREMENT:
Degree:
major or equivalent in psychology for all specializations
except clinical psychology and counseling psychology**.**
Clinical Psychology-For positions at grades GS-11 and above,
satisfactory completion of all the requirements for the doctoral
degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional
work in clinical psychology is required.

SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR:

Applicants will be required to verify they possess a
current, valid, unrestricted license as a Clinical Psychologist.
\* In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the
Minimum Qualifications stated below-
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-13:
Candidates must have 1 year of specialized experience
equivalent to the GS-12 grade level to qualify.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized
experience
equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in
the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector
performing the following type of work and/or tasks: *work as a
psychologist in a mental health setting clinic or hospital while
providing psychological evaluations, delivering therapeutic mental
health treatment modalities for patients. Provide consultation,
