Serve as a Physician/Deputy Clinical Director to provides direct patient care to inpatient and outpatient and to provides supervision of provision, planning, development, organization, integration, administration and evaluation of clinical services under the direction of the Clinical Director at Shiprock’s Northern Navajo Medical Center, Indian Health Service, Shiprock, NM.
Provide quality medical/surgical evaluation and treatment to inpatients and outpatients with a wide variety of diagnostic conditions Works with the Clinical Director and other key staff members with full participation in management discussions, decisions, policy making and supervision related to clinical services Ensure implementation and compliance with quality assurance, continuous quality improvement and procedures and processes required by accreditation and regulatory bodies (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the Joint Commission) Formulates and implements administrative programs and plans to satisfy priorities and service unit objectives Conducts meeting and conferences with department chiefs and staff to explain work requirements, methods and procedures Formulates and issues written instructions; reviews and recommends approval, modifications or changes in functions, procedures, personnel assignments and other operating matters; report on progress and resolution of problems in achieving objectives Supervises, administers and oversees ancillary services department (Supervisory Nurse, Supervisory Pharmacist, Supervisory Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist, Physicians (Radiology, Pathology), Supervisory Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Supervisory Health Systems Specialist, Supervisory Respiratory Therapist, Director of Rehabilitation Services) Ensures implementation and adherence to programs, e.g., Merit Promotion plan, Excepted Service Examining Plan, Direct Hire Authority, position management responsibilities, performance appraisal system, counseling services, equitable treatment of employees, reviews and decides penalties for disciplinary and adverse action; justifies staff and financial resources to accomplish program objectives, etc. Responsible for application and implementation of equal employment opportunity program, affirmative action programs in selections, details, promotions, awards, career development, hiring, reassignments, etc. Serves on hospital committees and reports to the Clinical Director, Chief Executive Officer, subordinate supervisors and their staff; assists with recruiting clinical staff and in the absence of and when so delegated by the Clinical Director supervises the Clinical Division of the Hospital

BASIC REQUIREMENT: In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. The degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association or accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Demonstrated professional skill in applying theories, principles, concepts and practices of medicine sufficient to serve as an expert in medical evaluations, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of patients with suspected illnesses and/or rare conditions; applying knowledge of medical staff by-laws, rules and regulations, and complying with all requirements to maintain status as an active member of a medical staff; Served in a supervisory role and provided direct patient care to inpatient and outpatient and provided supervision of provision, planning, development, organization, integration, administration and evaluation of clinical services.
