Trim & Drill Carpenter/Fabricators perform production-related activities as outlined in work instructions and verbal directions. Fabricator adheres to high workmanship standards essential to the construction of products. Various applications and operations required include trimming, folding, burning and/or adhering substances to material surfaces. May use composites / metals / plastics / tape / labels / hand tools and different types of fabric and materials.

Essential Functions of Composite Trim/Drill:

+ Performs most of the cutting and drilling operations using properly set up fixtures and templates on composite parts and assemblies.

+ Prepares parts for finishing and painting by filing, sanding and sealing per specifications. Operations require use of various pneumatic and electric hand tools, hand tools, drill presses, belt sanders and applicators. The Fabricator has to successfully demonstrate thorough skill on most of the trim and drill operations.

+ Travelers/Routings: Follows and uses part travelers (work orders) routings and SWI s. Properly document all information as required.

+ Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe work environment and ensuring the proper care of tooling and equipment.

+ Moves or assists in moving materials, parts, tools and equipment as required.

+ Responsible for ensuring fabricated parts are within quality standards and tolerance requirements before and after layup process. Designated time standards must be met.

+ Performs other duties, consistent with the position, as required or assigned.

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a High School Diploma or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

+ High School Diploma or equivalent

+ Ability to hear, speak and understand the spoken word, while complying with written or verbal instructions.

+ Proficient skill using various hand tools and electric or pneumatic powered tools.

+ Able to be respirator certified, per our SHE requirements.

+ The ability to perform simple arithmetic computations including addition, subtractions, multiplication and division correctly using whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages.

+ Ability to read and understand work documents and to communicate information clearly to coworkers and supervisor and to accurately provide the information requested on specific forms, reports and logs.

+ Ability to lift up to 30lbs unaided in the movement of materials.

+ Required to stand up to 10 hours and walk up to 2 miles, may occasionally be required to stoop, kneel, balance, reach, grasp, use foot controls, climb and crouch.

Preferred Skills and Education

+ Experience in a composites manufacturing environment.
