Job Description

BAE Systems is hiring a Configuration Analyst II. This position will be located in Phoenix, AZ. We may consider other Combat Vehicles sites as well, such as York, PA; San Jose, CA; Sterling Heights, MI; or Minneapolis, MN, and for a well-experienced candidate, we may consider telecommute.

+ Plans, organizes, coordinates, and evaluates Bill of Material (BOM) efforts in support of multiple, significant developmental and production programs within BAE Systems guidelines and U.S. Government specifications; executes assigned programs within cost and schedule constraints. Establishes, maintains, and promotes good customer relationships.

+ Ensures the coordination of work tasks with customer representatives. Ensures customers are informed on status and progress of assigned programs.

+ Contributes to the preparation of project documentation to ensure customer requirements are met.

+ Reviews documentation and applies knowledge of engineering and manufacturing processes.

+ Analyzes proposed changes of product design to determine effect on the BOM.

+ Coordinates modification records for BOM management control.

+ Contributes to the development of policies and standards to ensure team optimization.

+ Provides guidance and training to team members.

+ Ensures CDM efforts meet cost, quality, schedule, and performance requirements.

+ Establishes and maintains configuration baselines.

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

+ Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills required.

+ Understanding of Configuration Management (CM) principles, Bill of Material (BOM) Structuring Expertise, and basic engineering background.

+ Manufacturing Requirements Planning (MRP) and / or Advanced Supply Chain Planning (ASCP) experience.

+ Product Life-Cycle Management (PLM) experience.

+ General understanding of Engineering / Manufacturing / Operations processes.

+ Experience with the use of a Product Data Management (PDM) system is desirable, otherwise must be willing to learn the PDM tool.

+ Ability to participate and contribute to the team.

+ Excellent computer skills, with a solid understanding of the typical PC applications especially MS Office Excel and Word.

Preferred Skills and Education

+ Extensive working knowledge in US Army product development, processes and standards pertaining to engineering to ensure accuracy for production readiness.

+ More than 5 years defense experience preferred.

+ Extensive expertise of design engineering, manufacturing, material planning; production planning purchasing principles and discipline of CM including Standards/Specifications. Ability to see the relationships of these functional areas and make decisions based on the business impacts to these areas.

+ Familiarity with PDM, ERP or Oracle preferred.

+ Associates or higher degree and equivalent work experience preferred.
