A. Course Objective:
This program will prepare students to enter the pharmacy field and to pursue certification including the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s PTCB exam. Content includes pharmacy medical terminology, reading and interpreting prescriptions and defining generic and brand names drugs and much, much more.
Learners who complete this program are eligible to participate in an optional volunteer externship opportunity with a local company/agency/organization whose work aligns with this area of study in order to gain valuable hands-on experience. Note: Additional documentation including health records, immunizations, drug-screening, criminal background checks, etc. may be required by the externship facility.
Please note: This non-credit program is offered through the Center for Non credit Training & Workforce Excellence at GateWay CC in collaboration with our workforce and community based organization partners only and is not open to individual enrollments outside of those partnerships. Partners may select either an in-person or online cohort.
B. Total Cost of Program $1,777 (include all costs to student including testing, licensure):
Tuition: $1,499 Certification Exam: $129 paid directly to Pharmacy Technician Certification Board, $82 license application fee paid directly to State of AZ , $67 Fingerprint Clearance card application paid directly to AZ Department of Public Safety

Background check requirements for licensing and background restrictions for working in the occupation:
No felony convictions or drug or pharmacy related convictions including misdemeanor that would prevent ability to get Arizona Pharmacy Tech License. Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance card required for license.
Other requirements needed: High school diploma , GED or equivalent, Must be at least 18 years of age, Provide proof of Citizenship— Arizona State ID, Arizona Drivers License or US Passport, Social Security Card
