Job Description

Analyze compounds to determine chemical properties, structure, composition and reactions to conduct research and development processes and to develop formulations using the knowledge of Pharmaceutical Formulation Methods, Physical and Chemical Characterization Methods, Scientific Software, and Scientific Writing and Communication Abilities.  This includes: Developing and characterizing surfactant-stabilized perfluorocarbon nano-emulsions for oxygen delivery applications; Developing and characterizing innovative formulations (lyophilized, pulverized product) of targeted and/or untargeted nano-emulsions; Developing new lipid-based parenteral phase-change contrast agents for diagnostic and theragnostic applications; Developing and performing stability studies of microemulsion and nanoemulsion formulations and developing in vitro assays for the characterization of the formulations. 

Perform laboratory work including chemical characterization of chemical intermediates and products formulation, conduct quality control tests, and perform routing repairs and maintenance of laboratory equipment using the knowledge of Pharmaceutical Formulation Methods, Physical and Chemical Characterization Methods, Scientific Software, and Scientific Writing and Communication Abilities.  Maintain detailed and organized laboratory notebook with detailed observations using the knowledge of Pharmaceutical Formulation Methods, Physical and Chemical Characterization Methods, Scientific Software, and Scientific Writing and Communication Abilities.  Assist with the preparation of grant proposals, applications and closeout reports and participate in patent preparation and submissions using the knowledge of Pharmaceutical Formulation Methods, Physical and Chemical Characterization Methods, Scientific Software, and Scientific Writing and Communication Abilities.  Propose, design, execute and analyze experiments individually and as a team with collaborators, colleagues and supervisor using the knowledge of Pharmaceutical Formulation Methods, Physical and Chemical Characterization Methods, Scientific Software, and Scientific Writing and Communication Abilities.
