One team. Global challenges. Infinite opportunities. At Viasat, we're on a mission to deliver connections with the capacity to change the world. For more than 35 years, Viasat has helped shape how consumers, businesses, governments and militaries around the globe communicate. We're looking for people who think big, act fearlessly, and create an inclusive environment that drives positive impact to join our team.

Viasat is looking for a technology and software leader to help drive our customer-first vision. Our team is helping advance Viasat's digital transformation and looking for someone who demonstrates curiosity, adaptability and enjoys solving tough engineering problems!

Job Responsibilities

As an engineering manager, you will direct and grow a high performing team to deliver an application platform focused on providing the best possible developer and customer experience. The VAP (Vega Application Platform) team designs and develops a paved road aimed at facilitating deployment and lifecycle management of services and web applications on the cloud in an easy, secure and reliable fashion.

We live in fast paced world. Companies that can go from idea to production quickly will have a competitive advantage over those that cannot. In the pursuit of that, you will work with cutting edge cloud technology and impact dozens of developer's experience (and hundreds of microservices).

You will oversee, design and implement new platform features and enhancements to be used across dozens of applications while your operational experience ensures maintainability and extensibility. You will have the opportunity to work with multiple business areas within Viasat as you prioritize work requested and manage the team roadmap. You will coach and mentor team members on job functions and career goals. Additionally, you will remain current in and work with emerging technologies while suggesting best practices for adoption within Viasat.

In this role, you will spend approximately 50% of your time on management and leadership activities, and you will spend the other 50% on day-to-day technical contributions. Additionally, this role will be a part of the on-call rotation for supporting the platform and hosted services.
