Superior Court in Coconino County, City of Flagstaff, located in the historical courthouse in the heart of downtown, is accepting applications for multiple opportunities for full-time, part-time, job share, and temporary on-call Court Reporter positions.
The Court is in the beautiful historical courthouse in the heart of downtown Flagstaff. Come experience life in this beautiful college town, mountain community. We are located at 7,000 feet surrounded by the largest Ponderosa Pine forest in the country and within proximity to the iconic Grand Canyon National Park and the majestic red rock scenery of Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon. The metropolitan area, Phoenix, is 2.5 hours south of Flagstaff.
The position requires Arizona CCR certification, NCRA RPR, reporting verbatim courtroom proceedings and transcribing same, performing related work as assigned. The reporter is responsible for providing the equipment to perform the duties of a Court Reporter.
The position is working in a team/pool setting covering eight judges as needed, including juvenile court, criminal/civil domestic relations cases, as well as Grand Jury proceedings on a rotation basis.
Under general supervision performs work of considerable difficulty in making verbatim stenographic records of legal proceedings and transcribing the same; performs related work as assigned.
Typical Duties

• Uses computerized stenographic equipment to prepare verbatim records of legal proceedings
• Prepares and distributes accurate transcripts in the required format within the specified timeframe
• Reads back from court records during proceedings or prepares rough draft transcripts for court use
• Maintains stenographic records in such a way that they are readily accessible for the period required by law
• Purchases and maintains a personal reference library, and utilizes online reference sources
• Purchases and maintains software, hardware, and supplies necessary for the performance of court reporting
• Hire support staff as necessary
• Prepares and maintains records and reports
• Performs related duties
Essential functions include but are not limited to: sitting in court or at the desk for machine shorthand writing and transcription; working with and around other court staff, clerk’s staff, attorneys, defendants, and the public; dealing with interruptions from co-workers, phones and unscheduled hearings; repetitive motion hand/wrist for machine shorthand writing and transcription; vision acuity (near / far) for computer and courtroom work; hearing for courtroom testimony, etc.; touch for shorthand, and computer work.
