Job Description
The Transload Operator's primary responsibility is to safely and timely transload sulfuric acid from a train railcar into a tanker trailer. It is expected that the Transload Operator will have the ability to understand and follow operating procedures and policies.
Summary of Job Duties
- Work 10-12 hour shifts at least 5 days a week
- The shift may vary between day or night, but is consistent for the entire week
- Responsible for overseeing safe and efficient rail operations while unloading
- Maintain a safe work environment
- Ability to respond to an incident or accident
- Climb up and down the transloader throughout the day
- Inspect, service, and troubleshoot faulty mechanical equipment
- Work outside during extreme temperatures and inclement weather
- Communicate with Dispatch, Drivers, customers, and Terminal manager
- Handle stressful situations, make quick decisions, and react efficiently & safely
- Report when railcars are empty and require switching out
- Occasional work at our Port of Tucson and other various customer sites/locations
- Mechanical abilities to troubleshoot and isolate malfunction - Water system to supply eyewash and shower stations, generator, compressor
- Operation of basic hand tools
- Other duties as assigned
