Job Description

Under general supervision, performs routine and non-routine semiskilled and skilled labor, maintenance, construction, repair and upkeep work on public facilities, grounds or streets. • Performs and has competency in all areas of the minimum standards of a Traffic Signal Technician II position and Streetlight Technician position • Organizes and assigns the activities of maintenance, signal, and streetlight workers; trains new employees. • Orders and maintains an inventory of equipment and supplies. • Performs a variety of equipment operation and manual labor tasks as assigned; works independently with little, or no immediate supervision, and makes proper decisions using sound judgment; duties will vary according to job assignment. • Performs non-routine signal and streetlight repairs and maintenance; paints facilities and graffiti; performs skilled electrical work; makes major maintenance repairs; replaces and repairs street signs; repairs and replaces sidewalk concrete; repairs and replaces streetlights; repairs and replaces traffic signals. • Operates a variety of trucks and equipment in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures. • Performs semiskilled and skilled construction, maintenance and manual labor work. • Assists in the construction, maintenance and repair of roadways, structures and structural components, grounds work areas or facilities. • Picks up and delivers materials as necessary. • Inspects, cleans and performs non-routine maintenance work on equipment; identifies and reports mechanical problems requiring additional repair. • Completes required daily logs and reports. • Installs and maintains streetlights and associated hardware. • Installs and maintains traffic signals and associated hardware and software. • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
