Job Description
The purpose of this position is to develop, design, prepare and deliver various public health program curriculum to elementary, middle, and secondary school students in a school and/or teen center setting. Program curriculum includes a variety of public health education grant programs including but not limited to teen pregnancy prevention, personal hygiene, healthy relationships, tobacco use prevention, opioid overdose prevention, oral hygiene, bullying, and sun safety.
This position does not supervise other employees.
Develops, coordinates, implements, and presents complex and sensitive County public health education programs including prevention and education services as defined by grant programs to elementary, middle, and secondary school students. Develops and designs printed materials and other educational tools. Instructs and supervises students in a school and/or teen center setting during regular school day hours, after school hours, and/or on weekends.
Represents the County Health Department when presenting program curriculum to school administration, principals, school boards, and parents. Coordinates and collaborates with community-based organizations, schools, and other appropriate facilities to implement the health education programs. Coordinates equipment, supplies, and quality management/retention activities.
Oversees quality management efforts, including the preparation and application of surveys to determine the program delivery effectiveness. Monitors progress of program activities and results and provides updates and reports to management. Establishes and monitors program contracts. Directs comprehensive reporting and evaluation system to meet grant requirements. Manages and maintains program records, data and documentation of attendance, objectives, curricula, and evaluations; maintains program databases in compliance with State, Federal, and local policies and procedures, regulations, and division rules.
Applies basic principles, practices, techniques, teaching, and communication methods related to health equity and equality.
Develops, maintains, and enhances relationships with parents and internal and external agencies and community partners/stakeholders such as school districts, community organizations, and governmental agencies.
Performs other duties as assigned.
