Job Description

The City of Kingman is seeking a detail-oriented Finance Technician to support day-to-day finance and accounting operations. This position plays a key role in accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash handling, and customer service by ensuring financial transactions are accurate, timely, and compliant with City policies and procedures. The Finance Technician works closely with City departments, vendors, and the Finance team to support efficient financial operations across the organization.

What You'll Do for the City of Kingman

Accounts Payable & Invoice Processing (50%): Review invoices submitted by City departments to ensure accuracy, proper documentation, correct account coding, and compliance with procurement requirements. Research and resolve invoice discrepancies, reconcile vendor statements, prepare claims for approval, and process invoices for payment. Reconcile accounts payable batches and expenditure reports, maintain accounts payable files, and assist with purchasing card administration.

Cash Receipts & Reconciliation (25%): Process daily cash receipts by counting funds, entering revenue into the general ledger, scanning checks, and reconciling deposits to daily reports. Communicate with departments regarding discrepancies and reconcile petty cash and change funds. Record monthly use tax for out-of-state purchases and assist with revenue-related inquiries.

Department Support & Operations (15%): Respond to questions from City staff, vendors, and the public regarding invoices, payments, and financial procedures. Process daily mail, distribute invoices for approval, order supplies for the Finance team, provide training and technical assistance to departments, and support other Finance staff as needed. 

Financial Records & Project Assistance (10%): Prepare periodic financial, statistical, and operational reports as assigned. Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation. Assist with reconciliations, research, and data gathering for department projects and audits.
