Job Description

Duties:             Lead delivery of scalable applications/systems/services using cutting edge technologies, engineering best practices and methodologies. Lead a team of software engineers in the development and enhancement of capabilities, continuous improvement initiatives, and driving operational excellence in the support and maintenance of systems. Influence strategic, functional, and technical direction of the software solutions. Research new technologies and map their application to current and future business needs. Ensure on-time delivery of software solutions from design, through coding, code reviews, testing, and implementation. Promote and ensure high level of technical excellence in IT development staff. Design, implement, manage, and monitor security measures that protect data and systems. Promote and ensure compliance with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Act requirements and participate in audit processes. Manage team’s staffing levels based on technical skill sets, application knowledge and business roadmap. Direct and manage the day-to-day operations of the software engineering team. Set reasonable stretch performance goals, provide constructive, balanced, regular performance feedback, and conduct performance appraisals. Participate in Technology Talent Review process with direct manager to ensure a high level of performance is maintained across the organization. Manage hiring process, conduct interviews, and ensure successful onboarding of new associates. Collaborate with direct reports on their professional development and growth.  Manage nine software engineers.  May work remotely 20% of time within commuting distance of work location.

 

Requirements:  Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, information systems, computer science or related field and 7 years of experience. Experience must include: high level understanding of: 1) software development lifecycle principles and processes in agile environment and software development best practices; 2) development technologies such as Java EE, messaging systems, XML, Web Services, JavaScript, HTML, web technologies, or scripting languages; 3) web and distributed application design; 4) SQL and NoSQL databases and design of distributed database applications; 5) Service Oriented Architecture concepts, web/RESTful services and event-driven architecture.  Skill set does not need to be maintained for the full term of required experience.
