Job Description
The San Pedro House Manager supervises this operation. They report to the President of
the FSPR Board of Directors (BOD). On a day-to-day basis, they manage the retail
operation of the store, supervise its staff of volunteers, and ensure that quality support is
provided to visitors of the SPRNCA.
The San Pedro House Manager works up to 40 hours a week, mostly on-site, but off-site as
required and approved by the President. The Manager operates with little day-to-day
oversight, reporting problems as they arise to the President.
The San Pedro House is staffed by volunteers who work shifts in the Nature Store. The
Nature Store is open every day from 9:30 to 4:30. We rely on volunteers to staff the store
and perform tasks needed to maintain these facilities. The Nature Store Manager oversees
the volunteer staff.
2. Duties and Responsibilities
Nature Store Retail Management
• Maintain inventory – track sales and order new merchandise
• Select new items for sale
• Manage the retail displays in the store
• Maintain records of expenditures and sales in coordination with the FSPR Treasurer
• Maintain operation of the store’s Shopify point of sales system
• Hold special events and support FSPR events at the San Pedro House
Staff Management
• Recruit volunteers to staff the San Pedro House
• Train the volunteer staff
• Schedule volunteers
• Oversee the performance of the volunteer staff
• Develop and maintain SOPs for the use of the volunteer staff
Visitor Contact Station Management
• Train the volunteer staff on recreation in the SPRNCA and its surrounding area
• Ensure a good supply of brochures and information on the area
• Ensure performance of the San Pedro House role in support of the FSPR mission to
provide recreation services to SPRNCA visitors
Facility Management
• Maintain operation of the store’s computers, network, and phone equipment
• Ensure that the physical infrastructure of the store is in good condition, initiating
action when repairs are needed
• Ensure that the House is kept clean and tidy
• Respond to emergencies in accordance with established procedures
Support for the FSPR
• Ensure the phone and mail are answered and messages are passed to others in the
FSPR as required
• Provide all reports and updates to the President and BOD as required
• Maintain a good working relationship with BLM staff and the site host at the San
Pedro House
• Purchase supplies, print documents, and other items as required to support FSPR
operation
