Summary Reclamation is seeking a career professional looking for an opportunity to capitalize on their expertise as a IT Specialist (SysAdmin). Duty Location: Yuma, Arizona Responsibilities Reprioritizes and allocates resources as they become available and recommends additional components to improve overall system performance. Keeps abreast of current and emerging technologies and systems administration practices and methods. Analyzes and provides cost-benefit analyses to decision-makers for recommended changes. Develops standard operating procedures for a variety of IT hardware tasks or activities. Modifies, adapts, and/or refines broader guidelines to resolve specific complex and/or intricate issues and problems; and identifies and researches trends and patterns in order to develop new methods and criteria and/or propose new policies or practices for systems administration activities. Plans and coordinates product and equipment installation and lifecycle upgrades, overseeing and resolving technical and administrative problems, controlling current versions and future releases of hardware and applications software, and documenting the physical configuration of the systems. Optimizes the functionality and performance of systems. Maintains systems integrity and availability anticipating likely capacity or configuration problems and initiating corrective or preventive actions. Diagnoses and recovers failed systems. Consults with customers to identify priorities and best approaches for integrating systems administration requirements into daily operations. Researches options for problem resolution and recommendations. Presents in writing or orally to audiences within and external to the organization, identifying priorities and barriers to project accomplishment. To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable non-Federal experience. Specialized experience is defined as experience performing the following duties: Planning and executing difficult and complex systems administration assignments of the Yuma Area Water Management System and/or Distributed Control System across multiple IT domains, including interpreting IT policies, standards, and requirements, and adapting or modifying existing methods to meet mission needs. Analyzing and resolving complex issues associated with system configuration, including troubleshooting conflicting or incomplete data, and determining appropriate methods, techniques, and corrective actions. Reprioritizing workloads and allocating IT resources based on emerging organizational priorities, and recommending additional components or enhancements to improve overall system performance. Developing and implementing standard operating procedures for IT hardware and system administration activities; modifying or refining technical guidelines to address complex or unique issues. Planning and coordinating the installation, maintenance, lifecycle upgrades, and configuration management of hardware and software products; resolving related technical and administrative issues and documenting system configurations. Consulting with customers to identify priorities, translate business needs into system requirements, and recommend best approaches for integrating systems administration needs into daily operations. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time-In-Grade: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower-grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b). You must meet all Eligibility and Qualification requirements, including time-in-grade restrictions and any selective placement factors if applicable, by 06/19/2026. Education This position does not allow substituting education for experience. Additional Information Reclamation has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and you may be allowed to telework with supervisory approval.
