A Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card is required for employment at Gila Community College.

Essential Functions
  • Ability to perform general physical activities that require considerable use of arms, hands, and fingers to manipulate office equipment, machines, and materials. Some whole-body movement such as lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, carrying objects and handling materials may be required.
  • Ability to provide effective assistance in a professional manner to College stakeholders in a variety of business environments requiring critical thinking, organization, and the use of inter-personal and communication skills.
  • Functions/duties as listed in Procedure 5012.02 Employee Classification General Responsibilities.

Level of Supervision or Independent Judgement
  • Performs duties under indirect supervision following procedures, instructions, directions, and training given.
  • Some independent decision making.
Duties and Responsibilities

Library/Student Services employees are expected to perform any or all duties listed below in a safe, efficient, and effective manner.

  • Assist students and other patrons with access to all library resources, including internet searching and database research, as needed.
  • Maintain Koha Library System and produce required reports.
  • Catalog and process new material added to the library collection; purge obsolete material per policy.
  • Assist students with admissions, student portal navigation, textbook ordering, the LMS, and scholarship and Financial Aid applications.
  • Support new student orientation and first-year experience programs with customized library orientations.
  • Administer placement testing including input/verification/correction of ACCUPLACER scores in Core Campus (SIS).
  • Arrange for proctoring services as needed, including but not limited to TEAS, HESI, ASE testing, ADA test proctoring, testing for other colleges/institutions etc.
  • Support NAVIT/CVIT and Dual Enrollment orientation programs.
  • Asist instructors with Syllabi creation and provide other instructor support as requested.
  • Refer students to appropriate campus resources to assist with their educational goal achievement.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records in compliance with FERPA and College policies; create a fiscal year annual report for respective Campus Directors.
  • Participate in student success initiatives, retention efforts, and outreach-related workshops.
  • Some cash handling responsibilities for printing/copying/other fees.
  • Maintain the GCC scrapbook.
  • Perform similar duties not specifically listed as directed.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • A combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities that will enable success in position responsibilities.
  • Ability to pass a background screening process and/or obtain a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card is necessary.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form with a diverse internal and external audience.
  • Knowledge of sound testing and assessment techniques and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate a variety of assessment activities including scheduling, administration of assessment(s), scoring, dissemination of results, and record keeping and reporting.
  • Ability to utilize various types of office equipment including a personal computer with various productivity tools and programs.
  • Ability to effectively perform multiple tasks with intermittent interruptions.
Preferred Skills
  • Familiarity with student information systems and resource/information databases.
  • Experience working at a high school, community college, or open enrollment institution.
  • Knowledge of the various types of student services routinely provided to students at the post-secondary level and a desire to assist student in the areas.
  • Familiarity with and understanding of safe work practices particularly when performing general physical activities within an office environment.
Work Environment

Duties are performed in a typical office environment within generally climate-controlled structures. Exposure to moderate noise levels is anticipated. Exposure to moderate to heavy office traffic levels with possible frequent interruptions is anticipated. Substantial computer and/or electronic equipment use is expected. Operation of standard office equipment involves repetitive fine motor-skills.
