Job Title: Lead Consultant, Civil Engineering
Location: 177 N Church Avenue, Ste. 1105, Tucson, AZ 85701
Duties: Provide technical support to clients in design, construction, operation and management of Tailings Storage Facilities. Contribute to the civil design of mine waste containment (tailings and waste rock) and heap leach facilities including initial layout and design, site selection and facility layout, geotechnical and hydrologic analyses, and preparation of design drawings and technical specifications for construction. Manage and execute a wide variety of mine waste geotechnical engineering projects, including geotechnical field investigations, laboratory testing programs, data interpretation, and geotechnical analysis. Scope, and perform complex geotechnical analyses with a focus on soil mechanics, including stability, seepage, deposition modeling; and run out analyses for mine waste or water embankment dams and waste rock spoils. Manage projects according to client-approved scopes of work and deliver high quality reports on time and within budget subject to senior review and oversight. Contribute to client relationships and business development activities focused on building and growing our business. Support technical proposals and design work package in response to client needs. Manage the work of junior engineers and provide training and oversight. Remain current in latest geotechnical engineering techniques and practices.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Civil Engineering or related, plus five (5) years’ experience as a Civil Engineer, Project Manager, Senior Engineer, or related. Experience must include: Prepare engineering designs for Tailings Storage Facilities (TSFs) with high or extreme consequence classifications in compliance with international standards including the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM). Oversight of design, planning, construction, and operational phases of TSFs, including tailings delivery systems, cyclone operations, reclaim water management, earthworks, and specialized dam construction techniques including paddock systems. Oversight of quality control, quality assurance, and construction design intent verification for the construction and operational phases of TSFs including preparation and implementation of Operations, Maintenance, and Surveillance manuals and risk management tools including Trigger Action and Response Plans to monitor the geotechnical and operational performance of TSFs in accordance with international standards, including GISTM.
