Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Under general supervision of the Maintenance Manager, the Vehicle Technician (EVT) Level 2, Lead / Senior Heavy Equipment Mechanic will provide work instructions, assign work, review paperwork, perform inspections, as well as be responsible for performing a variety of skilled to highly skilled tasks involving minor and major mechanical service and repair of Heavy Equipment, Fire Trucks, Fire Apparatus, Aerial Equipment, Fire Rescue Vehicles and Miscellaneous Fire Equipment. Duties include but are not limited to: Performs routine/scheduled maintenance and repairs of equipment and vehicles to include but not limited to, wheeled vehicles, power generation, and material handling equipment. Performs maintenance and repairs on Emergency Response Vehicles. Accomplish repairs and perform services as outlined in established technical manuals. Perform inspection and repair on brakes, suspension, wheels, hubs and steering systems. Understand and follow technical manuals, lube orders, wiring and hydraulic schematics utilized during scheduled service intervals to ensure proper diagnosis and repair of vehicles and equipment. Perform major repair jobs by disassembling and cleaning parts, removing and installing components, and removing and installing assemblies. Service and diagnose air conditioning system problems. Maintains appropriate government required paperwork such as, but not limited to: DA Form 2407, DA Form 2404 and files necessary for the maintenance and repair of the equipment. Ensure all deficiencies and parts are annotated properly on all forms as required by Army Regulations and applicable policies and procedures. Maintains tools and equipment and cleans work areas to maintain a safe work environment. Additional duties may be assigned as needed to meet company and departmental goals and objectives.
