Job Description

Position Summary

Joseph City Schools is seeking a coach who develops student-athletes through safe instruction, sportsmanship, teamwork, and high expectations.

Primary Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise practices, competitions, and team activities.
• Teaching skills, safety, sportsmanship, and responsible conduct.
• Communicate with students, families, school staff, and the activities department.

Minimum Qualifications

• Knowledge and experience are appropriate to the sport and level.
• Required coaching, safety, and first-aid credentials, or ability to obtain them.
• Ability to meet district fingerprinting and screening requirements.

Essential Job Elements

1. Plans, organizes, and directs the assigned sports program.
2. Creates an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
3. Assesses skills and assigns team positions.
4. Schedules and conducts practices throughout the year.
5. Acquire and maintain the necessary coaching certifications for the state of Arizona.
6. Teaches athletes the fundamental skills, theory, and strategy of the sport.
7. Models good sportsmanship.
8. Support and work effectively with supervisors and other staff.
9. Coordinate and work cooperatively with other departments and staff as needed.
10. Leads and organizes out-of-season training.
11. Tracks uniforms and equipment provided to the student-athletes, verifying that all is returned in working order.
12. Attends the Blue and Gold Awards Banquet.
13. Provide appropriate care for the safekeeping and protection of District equipment, facilities and other assets.
14. Assures compliance with appropriate safety practices and procedures and with applicable federal (NFHS), state (AIA), and district codes, regulations, and requirements.
15. Maintain confidentiality regarding student, staff and management related information.
16. Supports with integrity the mission, vision, goals and positive culture of Joseph City Schools.
17. Performs other duties as assigned.

1. Leadership skills sufficiently effectively to perform assigned duties.
2. Communication skills are sufficiently effective in performing assigned duties.

Physical Requirements:

Frequent standing, walking, moving, sitting, speaking, hearing, reaching with arms and hands, stopping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
