Program Synopsis
The Assisted Living Manager Program prepares individuals to manage assisted living facilities in accordance with Arizona regulations.
Upon successful completion of this program and passing the Arizona Assisted Living Manager state examination, candidates may apply for an Arizona Assisted Living Manager License through the Arizona Nursing Care Institution Administrators and Assisted Living Facility Managers Board (NCIA Board).
After obtaining a manager’s license, candidates may also qualify to sit for the NCIA Board Administrator Examination, which is required for full licensure in certain assisted living settings.
A. Course Objective
The objective of the Assisted Living Manager Program is to prepare students with the administrative knowledge and operational competencies required to manage assisted living communities and comply with Arizona regulatory requirements.
Course content includes instruction in:

Personnel management and staff supervision

Operations and facility management

Resident services management

Medication management oversight

Regulatory compliance and documentation

Business and administrative fundamentals of assisted living operations
The program satisfies the NCIA Board training requirement necessary for candidates to sit for the Arizona Assisted Living Manager state examination.

Additional Requirements to Complete Program
Prospective students must meet the following requirements to enroll in the program and obtain licensure through the Arizona Nursing Care Institution Administrators and Assisted Living Facility Managers Board (NCIA Board):
Education Requirement
Candidates must possess a U.S. High School Diploma or GED.
Individuals with foreign educational credentials should contact the NCIA Board directly to determine whether their credentials meet eligibility requirements for licensure.

Caregiver Certification Requirement
Candidates must hold a valid Arizona Assisted Living Caregiver Certification.
Students who do not already possess this certification may enroll simultaneously in the Assisted Living Caregiver training program, but must complete the caregiver certification prior to applying for the Assisted Living Manager license.
Certain healthcare professionals (such as physicians, registered nurses, or other qualifying healthcare professionals) may be exempt from the caregiver certification requirement in accordance with NCIA Board regulations.
