Program Synopsis Clinical Medical Specialist (Medical Assistant + Phlebotomy Tech)

Program Location: Online

Course Objective:
Description: Once you complete this 32-week program, you’ll have met the training requirements to sit for the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam and the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) exam, both of which are sponsored by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). While the Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification is not required for the CCMA or CMAA certifications, students have the option to obtain this certification upon the completion of their CCMA and CMAA exams. Students are responsible for securing their clinical sites to complete the CPT requirements.

We strongly advise students to research target job posts from area employers and relevant state requirements, barriers, or restrictions prior to enrollment to ensure eligibility upon graduation.

Note: Some MedCerts programs are restricted in certain states or regions. Please review our State Restriction page to view what restrictions there may be in your state/region or residence of employment and ensure you are eligible for enrollment.

***This Program Has Additional On Site Clinical Requirements***
While the target certifications (CMAA & CCMA) do not require the completion of hands-on experience for certification, students have the option to sit for the Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) offered by the NHA. Students who choose to sit for these exams will be required to complete the following requirements to receive their certifications. Students are responsible for securing their clinical sites:

* 30 venipunctures and 10 capillary sticks on a live person, which must be completed within 90 days of passing the CPT exam.

Some certifications require the completion of clinical components in order to achieve “fully certified” status. While each certification has different requirements, these clinicals are typically composed of hands-on working hours completed in a healthcare setting. MedCerts provides resources for students to use in their search and can provide sponsorship upon site request. Eligibility requirements apply.
