Fortinet Certified Fundamentals Certification – CE
A. Program Objective: Prepares individuals for employment in cybersecurity career pathways.
Description: This course is designed to equip students with practical skills in network security using Fortinet technologies. Through hands-on lab exercises, students will apply their theoretical knowledge in real world scenarios, gaining valuable experience in operating the most common FortiGate features. Students will build on a solid foundation in network security concepts, secure their network devices to unwanted intrusions and enabling them to address cybersecurity challenges effectively. Students will learn how to configure and manage FortiGate devices, implement firewall policies, establish secure virtual private networks (VPNs), and conduct network monitoring and analysis. By the end of the course, students will have developed a deeper understanding of network security principles and best practices. Students will possess the skills necessary to protect critical network infrastructure and be well-prepared to pursue the fundamentals-level credential by passing the Network Security Expert (NSE) Fundamental exam.
Competencies to be achieved:
Upon satisfactory completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Describe cybersecurity and the principles of information security and identify the types of bad actors, their methods, and countermeasures used against them.
- Explain basic security principles including the CIA Triad (Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability).
- Explain how to secure network models and technologies like SD-WAN and SASE can enhance cybersecurity.
- Configure the most common and high-level features on FortiGate devices.
- Connect remote users to the corporate network securely using VPNs.
- Restrict access to network resources and monitor essential indicators and logs on FortiGate devices.
