Program Objectives:
Upon satisfactory completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Analyze the fundamental concepts of logistics and supply chain management
- Differentiate between various modes of transportation and their advantages and disadvantages
- Learn the principles of warehousing and facility design
- Describe inventory management and its role in logistics
- Develop skills to design logistics networks that balance cost efficiency and customer service
Description:
In this introductory Logistics course, we will explore the backbone of global trade. This course encompasses the three major building blocks of logistics networks: transportation, warehousing, and inventory. After completing this course, students will be able to differentiate the advantages and disadvantages of different modes of transportation. Students will understand what goes into designing and setting up a warehousing facility. Finally, they will be able to select the options that enable students to develop logistics networks that minimize costs and deliver top customer service.
Competencies to be Achieved:
LGS 111 Basic Logistics: Coursework covers topics such as transportation, warehousing, and inventory.
