Description

Program Synopsis Behavior Technician and the Medical Office

Course Objective:
Description: Through the MedCerts RBT program, you will learn a series of documentation and protocol rules and regulations that have to be adhered to, not only for thorough records but also according to the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) guidelines and HIPAA regulations. You will study a list of subjects written by a licensed BCBA-D (Board Certified Behavior Analyst – Doctorate) and BCBA in order to learn the material needed to test and pass the BACB RBT Certification exam. Both of these are extremely important – this course is offered as part of the RBT training and should be understood prior to taking the BACB examination for the RBT certificate.

In order to become a fully certified Registered Behavior Technician, the BACB requires completion of a 40-hour training and passing a Competency Assessment on the job before being eligible to take the RBT exam. After passing the exam, you’ll be qualified for a number of Behavior Technician related jobs and be responsible for direct contact with patients in various settings. Earning the RBT certification demonstrates your expertise in ensuring the proper treatment of your patients and providing excellent customer service.

*PLEASE NOTE: This training program is based on the Registered Behavior Technician Task List (2nd ed.) and is designed to meet the 40-hour training requirement for RBT credential. The program is offered independent of the BACB.

There are additional requirements (outside of training and examination) mandated by the BACB for those on the path to earning the RBT designation. Visit www.bacb.com/rbt for more information.

This Program has additional On-Site Clinical Requirements:
* Completion of Competency Assessment while on the job, post program completion
* Completion of background check
* Completion of RBT application with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board

Some certifications require the completion of clinical components in order to achieve “fully certified” status. While each certification has different requirements, these clinicals are typically composed of hands-on working hours completed in a healthcare setting. MedCerts can assist students in their search and provide resources but does not place students within clinical sites, nor can it guarantee that students will be able to locate a site within the required timeframe for certification.

Competencies to be achieved:
* Demonstrate an understanding of the soft skill expectations of an allied healthcare professional
* Provide direct implementation of behavior-analytic services based on the BCBA’s recommendations
* Teach children language/communication, social skills, daily living/adaptive skills, pre-academic skills, and more while recording and analyzing data along with the BCBA
* Comply with HIPAA/HITECH, OSHA, CMS and other healthcare regulations and laws, including the BACB
* Comprehend and define behavior clearly and set a measurement technique
