Program Synopsis Pharmacy Technician Professional (ASHP/ACPE) (MedCerts) 

Program Location: Online

Course Objective:
Description: To earn the ASHP/ACPE certification for Pharmacy Technician Professional, you’ll complete three online courses: Professionalism in Allied Health, Introduction to Human Anatomy and Medical Terminology, and Pharmacy Technician Principles and Practices. Additionally, you will participate in a 160-hour Externship at a pharmacy, furthering your skills by applying what you’ve learned through the online pharmacy technician training program in a real-world environment.

The combination of MedCerts online courses and the 160-hour externship will prepare you to pass the Pharmacy Technician Certification Examination (PTCE), administered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), and earn national recognition as a CPhT (Certified Pharmacy Technician). With your Certified Pharmacy Technician Professional training, you’ll be qualified for career opportunities like Pharmacy Technician, Oncology Technician, Infusion Technician, Pharmacy Technology Specialist, Compliance Specialist, Inpatient Technician, Pharmaceutical Sales and others.

Competencies to be achieved:  
* Demonstrate an understanding of the soft skill expectations of an allied healthcare professional
* Comply with pharmacy laws, HIPAA/HITECH, CMS and other healthcare regulations
* Demonstrate correct processing of medication orders; preparation, storage, and distribution of medications
* Apply patient-safety and medication-safety practices, and identify, handle, and safely dispose of hazardous materials
* Prepare medications requiring sterile, non-sterile and chemotherapy compounding
* Apply knowledge of pharmacology, Medication Therapy Management, and inventory management in the pharmacy

Refund Policy (provide a summary if Refund policy is not listed on school website):  
MedCerts provides students with the right to cancel their program and receive a refund, following the guidelines below. Please check your state or third-party funding policies as they may differ. 
 
* Cancellation Period: You can cancel your program up to 21 days after the start date. To do so, submit a written cancellation notice (electronic or mailed) by the 21st day after your start date for a full 100% refund of tuition and fees. 
* Material Return: To qualify for a refund, all MedCerts materials and supplies must be returned within 30 days of cancellation. You are responsible for return shipping costs. If materials aren’t received within 30 days, the refund becomes void. 
* Material Handling: All returned items should be insured, tracked, and packed to prevent damage. Any copies or backups of materials must also be destroyed. 
* Enrollment Termination: Upon cancellation, your enrollment with MedCerts ends, and program materials cannot be transferred to others.

Refunds will be processed within 30 days after MedCerts receives all returned items.

Accrediting Agency and link to website: MedCerts operates as a training provider and does not offer a separately accredited curriculum for this program. However, the program prepares students for industry-recognized certifications by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).

Credential Attainment Rate: There is no attainment rate. This is a new program, as the program progresses and participants complete their courses, this rate will change.

In compliance with ASHP accreditation requirements, the average PTCB/PTCE exam pass rate for MedCerts’ Pharmacy Technician program was 45% from 1/1/2022 – 12/31/2022. In 2023 (01/2023 – 4/23/2023), our average exam pass rate was 59%.
