Program Synopsis Wastewater Collection Operator Training (Grade 3 & 4)  

Program Location: Superstition Mountain Campus 

Course Objective:   
Description: Operator Training specific to Wastewater Collections (Advanced), establishes standards and guidelines for the certification of drinking water and wastewater system and facility operators. Operators will obtain knowledge that is pertinent to their day-to-day operations as a Wastewater Collections Operator-Level 3 & 4, but also to help pass the Operator Certification exam. This training is designed specifically for grade levels 3 & 4, and meets the ABC standards. The tuition fee for this course includes 1 test voucher for your ADEQ operator certification exam. 


Prerequisite: Must have a high school diploma or GED prior to scheduling your Operator Exam.

Program Location: Superstition Mountain Campus and/or Signal Peak Campus

* Study Guides: Need-To-Know Citeria and ABC Testing Resources 
* Practice Exams: Operators will also get practice exams to help them prepare. 
* Math & Conversion Sheet: A sheet with operator math and conversion formulas will be provided.

Operators attending the training are not required to bring any additional materials or books and no other additional material will be available for purchase.

Additional information: Background check requirements for licensing and background restrictions for working in the occupation: There are no background check requirements or restrictions to inquire about training or exams. However, background check requirements and background restrictions for working in the occupation will be based on the employer.  

Testing Information:  All ADEQ certification exams will be held at the Signal Peak Campus, regardless of the campus where the training is held, in the Learning Center located on the second floor of the O Building.  

Upon registration of this class, it is the students' responsibility to email the community education department identifying which level of ADEQ exam you plan to take. Please do so by emailing CommunityEducation@centralaz.edu.

For example, here is ADEQ’s offer: If you have considered transferring your water or wastewater certifications to the state of Arizona, you can apply for reciprocity. ADEQ only offers reciprocity like for like. This means if you are a certified Grade 1 Water Treatment operator in your state, ADEQ will only offer a Grade 1 Water Treatment. If you are a certified Grade 5 Wastewater Collection, ADEQ will offer a Grade 4 Wastewater Collection certification, as Grade 4 is our highest certification class.
