A. Course Objective:
Description: The Clinical Medical Assistant course aims to equip students with the knowledge,
skills, and hands-on experience necessary to perform clinical and administrative tasks in a
healthcare setting, supporting physicians and ensuring quality patient care. Clinical Medical
Assistants work in the offices of physicians, podiatrists, chiropractors, and other health
practitioners, with responsibilities that vary depending on the setting and specialty. Their primary
duties include recording patient histories, measuring vital signs, assisting with examinations,
and preparing patients for diagnostic procedures. They also administer injections, draw blood,
perform EKGs, maintain sterile environments, and prepare specimens for laboratory testing.
They may also provide patient instruction on medications, diets, or aftercare, as well as remove
stitches and support physicians in a variety of clinical tasks. Clinical students have the option of
participating in an externship but it is not required.
Competencies to be achieved:
- Medical Terminology - Learn roots, prefixes, and suffixes to accurately understand,
communicate, and document patient information. - Professional Development - Build accountability, etiquette, critical thinking, time management,
customer service, and career readiness skills. - Compliance Standards - Complete OSHA and HIPAA training with quizzes to ensure safe
practice and patient data privacy. - Anatomy & Systems - Study body structure and function across major systems, including
nervous, sensory, integumentary, skeletal, muscular, respiratory, circulatory, lymphatic/immune,
digestive, urinary, endocrine, and reproductive. - Communication & Records - Handle phone and written communications, schedule patients,
and maintain medical records and EHR documentation using MOSS simulations. - Infection Control - Apply medical asepsis, hand hygiene, PPE, sterilization, instrument
processing, and transmission-based precautions. - Vital Signs & Exam Prep - Measure height, weight, temperature, pulse, respiration, blood
pressure and prepare patients and rooms for examinations. - Pharmacology & Injections - Learn medication fundamentals, dosage calculations, and
administer oral medications, injections, and immunizations with correct documentation.

occupation: - Other requirements needed: Applicants must have a high school diploma, GED (Graduate
Educational Development) or a home school state issued certificate. Prospective students must
submit an application for enrollment and sign an enrollment agreement once approved. If
students in a clinical program choose to participate in an optional externship, they are required
to obtain “Healthcare Provider” CPR as it is required at most healthcare facilities.

Refunds are based on the amount of tuition paid, fees not included in tuition are non-refundable.
Administrative fee of $400 will be deducted from the refund amount. All refunds will be made
