Description
1. Course Objective:
Description: The Welding program prepares individuals to acquire welding techniques and be product verified with weldment testing. They will develop a working knowledge of blueprint reading and the welding processes for Shielded Metal ARC Welding (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Flux Cored ARC Welding (FCAW), and Gas Tungsten ARC Welding (GTAW) with the use of thermal cutting equipment. Students will learn about the tools and equipment for the welding trade.
Competencies to be achieved: During this 5-month program students will learn:
- Blueprint reading, tools and equipment
- Shielded Metal ARC Welding (SMAW)
- Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW)
- Flux Cored ARC Welding (FCAW)
- Gas Tungsten ARC Welding (GTAW)

Background check requirements for school/licensing: No
Background check requirements/restrictions for working in the occupation: While the AWS itself does not require a background check for their welding certifications, if you're pursuing a contractor's license through the Arizona Registrar of Contractors or planning to work for an employer in the welding field, a background check will very likely be a requirement.
