Description

Description: The Fire Science - Fire Officer Certification program is designed to prepare a student for the role of a fire officer in the fire or emergency services. Meeting the general knowledge required for the position of Fire Captain, Training officer, Fire Investigator. In conjunction with the Fire Science AAS degree program, allows the student to complete the Fire Officer program prior to completing the requirements for a degree.


 


A comprehensive group of class/ courses to prepare a firefighter for the position of a fire officer. Using NFPA standards of 1041 and JPR to ensure graduates of this program and achieve certification as a fire officer.


 


Required Perquisites - Completed the firefighter certification and proof of employment in the fire service is required.


 


Courses: FSC - 120 - Fire Behavior and Combustion – 3 credits


FSC - 133 - Fundamentals of Fire Prevention – 3 credits


FSC - 221 - Fire Administration I – 3 credits


FSC - 222 - Fire Protection Systems – 3 credits


FSC - 233 - Building Construction for Fire Protection – 3 credits


FSC - 235 - Fire Strategy and Tactics – 3 credits


FSC - 242 - Fire Investigation I – 3 credits
