This Water Operator Certification training prepares candidates for initial operator certification exams and provides pathways for ongoing continuing education credits (CEUs). Partnerships with state regulatory agencies ensure that coursework aligns with current certification standards and fulfills renewal requirements.  


Program Goals and Objectives



  • Expand Workforce Capacity: Train and certify new water operators, with a focus on attracting younger candidates and career changers.

  • Enhance Technical Competence: Provide comprehensive instruction in water treatment, distribution, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance.

  • Support Regulatory Compliance: Prepare operators to pass state certification exams and meet all continuing education requirements.

  • Promote Sustainability: Foster best practices in asset management, leak detection, conservation, and emergency preparedness.

  • Increase Accessibility: Develop training materials and schedules responsive to the needs of rural systems and non-traditional learners.
