Description
- Course Objective:
The Mental Health Technician program prepares students to support individuals experiencing mental health challenges by developing both clinical and interpersonal skills. Students will learn how to assist in the daily care of patients, administer prescribed medications, monitor vital signs, and support therapeutic activities. The program also introduces administrative responsibilities such as documentation, reporting, and schedule management. Emphasis is placed on building rapport with patients, encouraging positive behavior, and contributing to a safe, supportive environment.
Competencies to be achieved:
Assist with the care and supervision of individuals with mental health conditions Administer prescribed medications and monitor vital signs Support patients during therapy sessions and treatment plans Observe and document patient behaviors and progress Complete administrative tasks such as documentation and scheduling Build positive, supportive relationships with patients Promote a safe and respectful care environment Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals and patients
