Description
A. Course Objective: Learn how to implement and utilize electronic health records and become a Certified Electronic Health Records Specialist.
Description: Electronic health record (EHR) specialists are critical in today's healthcare environment, where timely access to accurate patient records is vital to the safety and treatment of patients.
This EHR certification course teaches the skills required to become a certified electronic health record specialist (CEHRS) through the National Healthcareers Association (NHA), including charting, HIPAA compliance, electronic health record management, and insurance and billing fundamentals like how the billing and coding process works and what information is needed to share with biller and coders within a medical practice. Your electronic health records training will prepare you to work on a health information management team, auditing records, compiling reports for patient tracking, and coordinating the systems that keep our healthcare facilities operating.
Competencies to be achieved:
Learn to manage patient visits, arrange follow-up care, and issue prescriptions
Keep track of vital information such as patient allergies and medications
Understand how to best read and interpret health records
Discover how to communicate with patients and report public health information

You will need a high school diploma or equivalent to be eligible to sit for national certification exams. Certification exams offered by NHA are only available online to candidates located in the US.
Prerequisites: While there are no required prerequisites, completing Medical Terminology before starting this course is strongly recommended.
