Description

The Medical Billing and Coding Certificate program provides training for entry-level employment in a medical practice setting with an emphasis on the routine administrative and billing/coding tasks required in the day-to-day operation of health care offices and clinics of healthcare professionals and facilities. Students will be prepared to sit for a national exam for a coding certification upon satisfactory completion of the program. 


Learning Outcomes: 



  • Students who successfully complete this program will be able to do the following: 



  • Perform key administrative tasks, including patient scheduling, records management, and office coordination in a healthcare setting. 



  • Demonstrate an understanding of legal, ethical, and regulatory standards in coding, billing, and healthcare practices. 



  • Communicate professionally and sensitively with patients, staff, and third-party payers in diverse environments. 



  • Apply medical terminology and coding systems (ICD, CPT, HCPCS) accurately for diagnosis, procedures, and supplies. 



  • Manage patient accounts and reimbursement processes while preparing for national coding certification exams.
