Description
- Course Objective:
-Description: The Veterinary Medical Office Assistant program prepares students for administrative roles in veterinary clinics, animal hospitals, and specialty animal care settings. Students will learn how to support daily front-office operations while maintaining a professional, compassionate presence when interacting with pet owners and veterinary staff. This program emphasizes the importance of clear communication, empathy, and professionalism when handling sensitive situations in a fastpaced, animal-focused environment. While students will be working around animals, this is not a veterinary technician program and does not include direct animal care training.
-Competencies to be achieved:
Students will learn to: Greet patients and their owners with professionalism and empathy. Answer phone calls, schedule appointments, and manage front desk communications. Process payments, maintain financial records, and manage client billing. File patient records and operate standard office equipment such as copiers, fax machines, and printers. Assist with moving animals to and from examination rooms when needed. Communicate effectively with veterinarians, technicians, and pet owners. Handle difficult or emotional situations with compassion and professionalism. Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception area. Understand the responsibilities and boundaries of a veterinary administrative role.
