Description

This comprehensive 15-week course delves into the fundamentals of IT support with an in-depth focus on healthcare information technology. The curriculum covers computer hardware, networking, operating systems, cybersecurity, and specialized healthcare IT systems and compliance requirements. The entry-level course is designed for individuals seeking to launch a career specifically in healthcare IT. Through an array of interactive labs, captivating lectures, and asynchronous homework, individuals will learn to build, configure, and troubleshoot various systems, master both wired and wireless technologies, and gain hands-on experience with healthcare-specific applications, data standards, and regulatory frameworks. As part of the course, learners will prepare and test for the CompTIA A+ Certification while developing specialized knowledge in healthcare IT support. Upon successful course completion, learners will be equipped to pursue entry-level hospital IT roles such as Healthcare IT Support Specialist, Clinical Systems Support Technician, or Healthcare Help Desk Analyst, and will have foundational knowledge aligned with HIMSS and AHIMA certification pathways.

• Background check requirements for licensing and background restrictions for working in the occupation:

No state occupational license or state- mandated background check is generally required to work as Data Center Technician in Arizona. However, employers may require candidates to go through a background checks or security clearance due to access to secure facilities, networks and sensitive information.

• Other requirements needed:

To be considered for a Per Scholas course, prospective learners must meet minimum eligibility requirements and complete all enrollment steps. Candidates must be at least 18 years old, provide proof of a high school diploma or equivalent (translated or evaluated if applicable), valid U.S. work authorization, and meet the learner pre-training income policy criteria. Learners must also demonstrate English proficiency, commit to starting a full-time job upon completion, and be available for the required instructor-led schedule (typically Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.). Eligible participants must reside within commuting distance of a Per Scholas campus or in an approved national remote area, and remote learners may not participate if traveling outside the U.S.

As part of the admissions process, candidates are evaluated not only on baseline qualifications but also on interest, motivation, learning approach, and problem-solving skills. The process includes an interview with basic technical questions, an admissions assessment, required documentation, and approximately 20 hours of pre-work covering topics such as computer hardware and operating systems basics. Per Scholas provides access to all pre-work materials and resources.

Learners who withdraw prior to the end of a course must immediately notify their instructor and officially submit their intent to withdraw in writing. Because Per Scholas provides training at no direct cost to learners, those who discontinue are not eligible for a refund; however, any refund required by a funder will be provided directly to that funder based on the date of withdrawal, following the refund schedule outlined (0% if withdrawal occurs within 0–15% of the program, 25% for 16–30%, 50% for 31–45%, 75% for 46–60%, and 100% after 60%). Learners who receive course materials or technology must return all textbooks, supplies, and equipment issued for their use. Since learners do not pay tuition directly to Per Scholas, they are not eligible for reimbursement of tuition or time invested; any applicable refunds will be returned solely to the funder as required.
