Description
The WVFD Paramedic Program strives to produce Paramedics with outstanding clinical abilities and critical thinking skills who will provide a high level of compassionate patient care that is thoughtful and intelligent in its approach.
Paramedic Program Goal:
To prepare competent entry-level Paramedics in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains with or without exit points at the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician and/or Emergency Medical Technician, and/or Emergency Medical Responder Levels.
This goal can be achieved by providing a rigorous curriculum that covers essential topics such as anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, advanced life support techniques, and patient assessment and management. Additionally, the program could include hands-on training and clinical experience in various healthcare settings, allowing students to apply their knowledge and skills in real-world situations. Ultimately, the program’s goal should be to produce graduates who can function as autonomous healthcare professionals, providing safe, high-quality care to patients in various emergencies.
To accomplish this Goal (WVFD) will:
*Provide a comfortable classroom environment conducive to learning.
*Select textbooks and learning material relative and pertinent to EMS practice
*Provide equipment and supplies that allow students to gain expertise in psychomotor skills *Provide high-quality instruction from experienced educators
*Provide excellent opportunities for clinical experience in the hospital and pre-hospital environment to successfully prepare graduates to function as an entry-level Emergency Medical Healthcare Provider.
Paramedic Student Job Description: This program is an interactive, hands-on experience. All students are expected to commit to their education! Out-of-class assignments (homework) extend the classroom/laboratory experience and allow students to research, apply, or practice concepts learned in the classroom. Students are also encouraged to group for study purposes, which often facilitates semi-structured study time and presents an opportunity to challenge and be challenged by fellow students. Equipment, supplies, and classroom space are available for practice outside of normal labs if an instructor is present throughout the practice session.

Procedure for withdrawal/withdrawal date: A student choosing to withdraw from the school after the commencement of classes is to provide written notice to the Program Director. The notice will indicate the expected last date of attendance and be signed and dated by the student. Per student case by case.
